Child Safe Self-Assessment

A free online resource to support organisations improve their child safe practice

The Office of the Children’s Guardian has released a free Child Safe Self-Assessment for child-related organisations to assess how well they are implementing the 10 Child Safe Standards.

You can access the self-assessment on the Office of the Children’s Guardian website now.

The Child Safe Self-Assessment is free and easy to use

The Child Safe Self-Assessment only takes about 30 minutes to complete and will help you implement the Child Safe Standards.

Your responses to this self-assessment hold no legal or regulatory implications for you or your organisation.

It is a capability building resource to help improve child safe practice and keep children safe from harm.

The self-assessment is available in 5 languages - Chinese (traditional and simplified), Korean, Arabic, Hindi and English - and is free for all child-related organisations to use.

Child Safe Standards are now mandatory for many child-related organisations

Many child-related organisations in NSW must implement the Child Safe Standards under the Child Safe Scheme.

Organisations in the education, early childhood, health, youth justice, local councils, religious organisations providing services to children and sport and recreation organisations providing services to children are all required to implement the Standards.

All organisations are at different stages of child safe capability. Completing the self-assessment will provide you with a report that highlights areas of strength as well as opportunities for improvement unique to your organisation. The report will provide clear, achievable actions for your organisation to improve its child safe practices.
