ABOUT THE ROLE

A professional mother working from home in Torrens, ACT is seeking a dedicated Baby Nanny to care for her 9-month-old baby every Thursday. The ideal candidate will be warm, engaging, and confident in supporting infants between 6 to 12 months of age.

Mum will be working from her home office and requires someone who can independently manage the baby’s routine—play, feeding, naps, and age-appropriate stimulation—without needing direction or interrupting her workflow. This is a sole-charge position.

The right nanny will have extensive experience with babies under 1, a calm presence, and a genuine love for supporting infant development in a home setting.

JOB DUTIES

Provide attentive, loving care to babies aged 0–12 months

• Maintain and follow a consistent feeding, sleeping, and play routine
• Engage baby in age-appropriate developmental activities (tummy time, reading, music, sensory play)
• Monitor baby’s cues and respond promptly to hunger, tiredness, or discomfort
• Prepare bottles and assist with early solids (if applicable)
• Change nappies regularly and keep changing area clean and stocked
• Ensure baby’s environment is safe, clean, and well-organised at all times
• Settle baby for naps and help establish healthy sleep habits
• Maintain daily communication with parents about baby’s mood, feeds, and development
• Follow parental preferences regarding baby care, routines, and values
• Respect the family’s privacy and maintain professionalism at all times
• Support gentle routines and boundaries suited to the baby’s age and temperament
• Assist with baby-related housekeeping (e.g. laundry, sterilising bottles, tidying play areas)
• Maintain a calm, confident presence—especially when parents are working from home nearby
  

REQUIREMENTS

Essential Experience

• Minimum 5+ years’ experience with children under 1
• Confident with children under 1 years old
• Experience supporting families with children, including babies
• Willing to engage in light nursery duties while baby is napping
• Ability to work alongside mum while she works from home
  

Mandatory Checks

• Current Police Check (issued within 6 months)
• Valid Working With Children Check (or International equivalent e.g., DBS)
• Current First Aid & CPR Certification (within 2 years)
• Excellent personal presentation and communication skills
• 5 written references
• 5  email addresses of 5 past employers 

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS & LEGAL COMPLIANCE

This position is covered under the Miscellaneous Award 2020, which includes:

• Overtime rates for hours worked outside of the agreed schedule
• Paid public holidays and leave entitlements under the National Employment Standards (NES)
• Fair work conditions, including a safe and respectful work environment
• Superannuation contributions in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee
